This is a great party that you can do in preschool classes or at home!

Preschool years are exciting and fun for both kids and parents. Parenting a preschooler is filled with surprises and fun. Recently, I helped the preschool parents for my neighbor's daughter plan a rainbow alphabet birthday party for the March birthdays. The goal of the rainbow alphabet birthday party was to incorporate the rainbow for Saint Patrick's Day and include the alphabet for the classroom setting. We ended up having such a good time celebrating the March birthdays, that I realized a rainbow alphabet birthday party would be a fun theme for preschool birthdays at home too. Use this handy guide for planning a fun rainbow alphabet birthday party at home for your preschooler.

Rainbow Birthday Party Invitations

To start your rainbow alphabet birthday party select a time and location for the party. I prefer the park since it's so gorgeous, usually, during the month of March. You can do this birthday theme though anytime of the year for preschoolers.

On your rainbow party invitations, ask each of the guests to wear a complete outfit that is one of their favorite colors from the rainbows. Parents won't mind helping preschoolers select a uni-color outfit that fits one of the primary colors. We did this in the classroom rainbow alphabet birthday party and it was a big hit!

Party Favors and Souvenirs for the Rainbow Alphabet Birthday Party

You can find many different party favors and souvenirs for the rainbow alphabet birthday party. My favorites were packs of alphabet stickers that were different colors. I also liked rainbow colored slinky toys. Your preschooler should be old enough to help you select what party favors and souvenirs you want to use for the rainbow alphabet birthday party. But remember, they can get a little carried away. Limit the preschooler to a set number of items.

Build a Rainbow and Decorate with the Alphabet

For the classroom party, we had a crepe paper rainbow. One of the parents donated a large, black cooking pot to set at the end of the rainbow. They had taped colorful alphabet letters all over the pot. We even scattered random letters along the rainbow as well.

Fun Games for the Rainbow Alphabet Birthday Party

I can't even begin with all the different games you can do at a rainbow alphabet birthday party at home. There are so many wonderful and fun ways to combine the alphabet and the colors of the rainbow. Kids just love rainbow alphabet birthday party games and activities.

Rainbow Alphabet Birthday Party Snacks and Food

One parent came up with the idea of rainbow colored pudding cups for the kids to enjoy. Another parent in the classroom cut different letters out of jello for the kids to eat. We even had little cups of alphabet cereal.
