Onomatopoeia Poems: definition and several examples of onomatopoeia poems.

It's easy to understand onomatopoeia poems if you know what you are looking for. Onomatopoeia refers to a word that imitates a sound or action. For example, "buzzed," "swoosh," clank," "boom," "clatter," and "roar" are all onomatopeia words. An onomatopeia poem is a poem that makes use of onomatopoeia words.

Now that you understand what an onomatopoeia poem is, it should be pretty easy to write your own or find them on the internet. I will give you a few examples here.

Onomatopoeia Poem #1 (Buzzzzz)

Buzzzzzz bee buzzzz
swoosh by my ear
plink plank plunk
my feet in puddles
while buzzzz bee buzzzz

Buzzzz bee buzzz
by the huming bird hummmmm
whoosh around his head
hummmmmm bird hummmmm
buzzz bee buzzzzzz

buzzzz bee buzzzz
YOUCH, you stung me
oooch eeech ouch!
scat bee scat
buzzzz bee buzzzz

Onomatopoeia Poem #2 (Waaaaa! Giggle!)

Waaaaa, waaaa, waaaa!
Mama, mama, waaaaa!
tummy growls
Waaaa, waaaa, waaaa!

Waaaa, waaaa, waaaa!
Dada, dada, waaaaa!
sloppy wet, change me
Waaaa, waaaa, waaaa!

Waaaa, waaa, waaa
You swoop me up swiftly
swish swipe slop, all clean
Waaa, waaaa, waaaa!

Waaa, waaa waaa!
gulp, gulp, gulp
tummy bursting, gleaming smiles
Giggle, giggle, giggle!

Giggle, giggle, giggle!
No more waaa, waaaa, waaaa
pitter patter little feet
Giggle Giggle giggle!

Onomatopoeia Poem #3 (Crunchy Munchy)

Crunchy munchy, crunchy munchy
chomp chomp chomp
gulp gulp gulp
Crunchy munchy, crunchy munchy

Crunchy munchy, crunchy munchy
smackety smack smackety smack
Yummmmmm smack
Crunchy munchy, crunchy munchy

If you want to write your own onomatopoeia poems, it is not too hard at all. Begin by making a list of words that sound like something. Once you have done that, read through the words to see if any topics come to mind. Once you have done this, the poem should come almost automatically. Have fun!
