Following these simple steps will surely help make a difference in life and death situations.

We have heard a lot about Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation or CPR for short. Obviously everyone will agree that knowledge of performing such procedure will certainly bring forth advantages. It will help you save lives.

In some hospital settings it is a mandatory requirement that a person should be certified to perform CPR before he or she can work in the hospital facility may that person be a nurse or a doctor or a healthcare provider.

Well, CPR is a part of what we call the Chain of Survival Metaphor. This is actually made of links that a person or a first aid provider must follow to insure that the victim will have a great chance of survival.

A link is weak if one of them is missing. Thus it is imperative that the link should be followed. It consists of the following:

EARLY ACCESS - this is the immediate call for the ambulance should a person see the need. Access to the emergency medical servicese

EARLY CPR - obviously if CPR is needed, it should be given right away. Remember that brain damage occurs in just a couple of minutes if the person is not breathing or the heart is not functioning.

EARLY DEFIBRILLATION- this is the giving of electricity as what you will notice often in some movies wherein a device called a defibrillator is used to deliver electricity to the heart. Several automatic defibrillators are now available and are place in public places.

EARLY ADVANCE CARE- this is the application of advance drugs and other necessary procedures usually given by the paramedics, nurses, or doctors to the victim.

By knowing this facts and following them in the event of emergency most especially for any person who has no breathing and no pulse, the chances of survival will definitely increase. Check out your local EMS number just in case.
