It's have been said that what we eat on New Year's Day very well could affect our good luck for the rest of the year.  I really don't know if that's true or not, but it's been a tradition in our home for many years.   And who wants to tempt fate?

Also did you know that fish, doughnuts, grapes, lentils, noodles, pork, and cabbage are thought also to brink good luck in the United States and elsewhere.  It's just a long held tradition.  Here are 2 great black eyed pea recipes.

Black Eyed Peas - The Good Luck Recipe

1 (15 oz.) can of black eyed peas, drained well
8 slices of pepperoni, chopped well
2 tablespoons of chopped onion

I combine the peas, pepperoni and onion, and mix very well.
Heat thoroughly and you're ready to go.  Easy and simple to make.

Magic Black-Eyed Peas

1 (15 oz.) can of black-eyed peas.  Drain it well
3 green onions with tops, chopped
1/2 cup of chopped green bell peppers
1/3 cup of chopped celery
1/3 cup of Italian Dressing

Combine all of the above ingredients with a little pepper and refrigerate.   That's it.

Me and my family wish you and your family a very safe, and Happy Holiday Season.  This is the time of the year where we put everything to the side and enjoy our family and friends.  So forget about work, running around all day, shopping, and just relax and enjoy.  May this article bring everyone Good Luck for the upcoming year.

Cabbage is associated with wealth and prosperity. The word "cabbage" is also slang for money. In Germany, eating sauerkraut at New Year's is considered good luck.

I love your article on cabbage and black eye peas.  My Mom always wanted to eat the blackeye peas for New Year’s Day and my German friend always is stuck on Sauerkraut….God Bless You and your family.
