So what fun things can you do during the Earth Hour event:

PLAN EARLY. Begin thinking of ways to use the hour of darkness for family fun. This can include telling stories about the earth. A camp setting to do so may be a fun idea. You can set up a big tent and even help convince children to conserve energy by going to sleep earlier. Try reading to them by flashlight while they are tucked in a sleeping bag on in a tent.

TRY A ROMANTIC DINNER. Prepare an exotic simple dish just before 8:30 when the lights will go off and eat by candlelight. Add more romance by having the bathroom set up with more candlelight fun. No reason you can't enjoy the same amenities by yourself too.

GO OUTSIDE and enjoy the skyline and heavenly bodies if you can. The view in the sky will be magnificent in mountainous areas, but everyone the sky will be brightly light be the natural light of the moon, stars and planets. Consider planning to be someone by yourself, with friends and or family about an hour before in time to settle for the event.

DON'T watch TV, a video or use any electronics during the hour. The whole idea is to conserve energy. This could be a wonderful time for silence, meditation and more rest. Try instead to incorporate peaceful thoughts and relaxation techniques for the mind and body.
