Dec 4th, 2010 by tsl99

Thiago Silva and Brandon Vera seeks to get back at the title contention as they fight on UFC 125: Resolution. The two UFC Lightheavyweight fighters will clash both coming of a difficult loss in their previous outings.

Brandon Vera vs Thiago Silva will be the co-headliner for UFC 125: ResolutionSilva last fought against Rashad Evans to determine who will be the next contender for the belt of current champ Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. He lost by decision but he almost won the fight when he caught Evans flush on the chin.

Brandon Vera is on the recovery track after getting surgery on his orbital bone which got fractured after an elbow from Jon Jones. The Filipino-American fighter is considered a title contender before losing against Randy Couture and recently, against Jones.

Vera vs. Silva likely is taking the spot that opened when UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was forced out of a UFC 125 co-headliner with Josh Grispi due to injury. Grispi now is slated to fight Dustin Poirier in a bout that today was made official for the preliminary card.

Inspite of opening his UFC career with four consecutive stoppage victories, Silva is just 1-2 in his past three contests. Due to various periods of inactivity, Silva has registered just one UFC win in the past 27 months.

UFC 125 will be held on Las Vegas in January 01, 2011.
