Recession or no recession, times are tough. Tougher for some than others. No matter to what degree a recession affects you, it is still smart to tighten your belt in case things get worse.

Recession or no recession, times are tough. Tougher for some than others. No matter to what degree a recession affects you, it is still smart to tighten your belt in case things get worse.

LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS - Everyone needs to live within their means no matter what the economy, however right now it is extremely important. We should continue to live at a rate that is reasonable and within our means. You should be able to pay all of your bills each month and save a little. Keep living, keep spending (what you can afford) and keep the economy going. Don't tighten your belt to the point where you can't breathe. Enjoy life at the level that you can. CUT OUT UNECESSARY BILLS - Do you even read that Magazine Subscription or newspaper? How many cable channels do you really need, you won't miss a few channels. Fast food kills your body and your pocket book, if this is an area where you need help, make a schedule, such as once a week or better yet once a month only. Look closely at the money you spend and you will find things to cut out of your budget and still continue to live the way you do! REDUCE ENERGY COSTS - Why give your money away to a utility company when you may need it in the months to come. Reduce heating, airconditioning, gas consumption and water usage. Turn your heat down at night. Do not turn it down so low that your heater has to work overtime the next day to heat your house up. For example, set it to 65 degrees at night and 69 degrees during the day. In the summer, cut down use of airconditioning by keeping your blinds closed during the day. Take a shorter shower, you will hardly even notice. KEEP YOUR POSITIVE ATTITUDE - Life goes on every day no matter what the economy, so don't let anything get you down. Keep that smile on your face. Smiling and laughing is good for your body even if you do not mean it! Keep moving forward.
