How to add Affiliate Links to your Website

One of the great things about the internet is it's ability to link those who want stuff to those who sell stuff. Lots of money changes hands every second through online commerce. Wouldn't it be great if you could get some for yourself?

Join the Linkshare affiliate network. Log into the website (link in the resource section below) fill out the required information and wait for approval. Linkshare is an affiliate network, hosting such retailers as Macys, Microsoft, iTunes and other very well known stores. They also have 100s of smaller, niche targeted merchants as well so there is always some link you can add to just about any article or website.

Step2 Once you're approved you can begin applying for affiliate partnerships with their merchants. Not every application will be approved as some merchants have criteria that you must meet concerning your websites traffic and content. I've been able to get some great partnerships including iTunes and Microsoft with just my blog with under 1k hits per month. Step3 Once you have partnerships approved you can begin adding links to your eHow articles or website. For websites you can add banners as well as text links, just cut and paste the code onto your page. Step4 For adding affiliate links to your ehow article there are two things you need to do.

1) in the resource section, cut and paste the Linkshare code that appears between the first two quotation marks ("xxx") into the 'Website address' of the resource section
2) Cut and paste the readable text area into the "Link text" part of the resource section, this is what will appear in the article. Step5 Now, there has been some talk on the forums lately as to whether affiliate links take away from adsense earnings in eHow articles. I believe they do not, and here's why..

There are some people that, not matter what, will NOT click on an ad, believing it's some third world scam site, a desperate, overpriced merchant, or even a virus infested porn site. I was once part of this group until I started my own website and learned what ads really are.

With that being said I think that an affiliate link, with text from a well known merchant is probably the only link that the above group would ever click on, so, since they would never give you adsense revenue, at least you have a shot at an affiliate sale through your affiliate network link.
