Wallpaper - It's Not Just For Walls Anymore!
The obvious use of wallpaper is to cover a wall, however there are several other useful and decorative ways of utilizing wallpaper.
You can find discontinued wallpaper marked down at home centers, at the Dollar stores and even thrift stores. A really excellent use is for shelf lining. Once you wet it, it is svery forgiving and easy to manipulate, unlike regular shelf paper, and you can cut it to size with a blade cutter, smoothing out and wiping away the excess water with a rag.
You can use it to decorate picture frames to match the decor of the room.
You can use several frames of the same size, insert a sheet of the wallpaper of your choic, hang the frames evenly along the wall under a chair rail, in a dining room for instance, to appear as molding.
Use a piece of cardboard cut to the correct size, cover both sides with wallpaper, and then cover the wallpaper with clear Contac paper, to use as place mats.
Cover a trash can in a bedroom or bathroom, as well as the tissue holder in a coordinating pattern to match your colors.
Cover the blades on your ceiling fn with any design of wallpaper yoou like. Seal with polyurethane for easy cleanng.
Everyone probably knows how to make a school book cover, but you could use wallpaper for this as well, (not wet) and you could also cover it with Contac paper.
cover a photo album that has gotten a little rough looking. Add lace or trim and make it new again.
Covered boxes are expensive to buy. Cover your own (maybe shoe boxes) with wallpaper. It is not hard to do. Or cut designs from the wallpaper and glue them to boxes.
The possibilities are endless.
Look around your house, and I bet you can come up with even more ideas. I even covered a washer and dryer that had developed some rust and scratches with wallpaper.
