One of the best things to wake up to on a cold morning (especially in the upper half of the upper hemisphere!). If you don't want to spend several dollars on a coffee shop special and don't have an espresso maker, this is the way to go for a budget friendly treat that satisfies your seasonal sweet tooth!

Things You Will Need

·      Coffee (Better if made in a coffee maker, but instant can work)

·      Candy cane or small candy canes

·      Chocolate syrup (dark is better IMHO)

·      Milk (bonus points if you have a milk steamer)

Step 1
Prepare your favorite coffee and start your coffee maker.

Step 2
Crunch up your candy canes. If you are using a big candy cane, but it in a plastic bag, so you don't make a mess. If you are using little ones, crunch up 1-3 of them, depending on how much you like peppermint. You can use the edge of your coffee mug to crunch them up.

Step 3
Fill your mug about 1/4 full of milk and heat it up in the microwave for 30-45 seconds. If you don't have a microwave, you can warm the milk in a pan on the stove.

Step 4
Pour your coffee over the warm milk, put some chocolate syrup in the mixture and add the pulverized peppermint crumbs. Stir the concoction. Feel free to adjust amounts to your taste.

Extras:
If you're not calorie conscious, go crazy! Add some whipped cream, drizzle with chocolate sauce, crunch up another candy cane and put it on top of the concoction. Or add some marshmallows, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings for hot chocolate peppermint coffee, heavy on the chocolate.

Just a warning:  This can be addicting!
