If you really want to create a successful, moneymaking blog, consider these ideas for developing a blog that will draw in and keep readers coming back for more!

With the Web 2.0 revolution in full swing, blogging is fast becoming the most popular way to create a presence on the internet. The reasons for blogging are as numerous as grains of sand on a deserted beach, yet making money for blogging has become a top priority for many who take the plunge into the blogosphere! Building a successful blog, one that will rake in some serious cash, much like a garden, requires lots of attention, hard work and maintenance.

Successful blogs have some important elements in common, including:

- Quality content

-Smooth operation

-Professional, clean appearance

-Traffic, traffic and more traffic.

Let’s talk about content for a moment. If you are in the market to make money for your blogging efforts, then you absolutely must consider what kind of content you want to provide your readers! A daily personal journal, while perhaps entertaining, is not going to give readers a lot of useful information. You need to publish articles and links that inspire and develop interest! Offering well-written, concise articles on a regular basis builds trust, and a loyal group of followers! If you care enough to present meaningful, easy-to-understand content, people notice and will be willing to return day after day!

Along with quality content, you want your blog to run smoothly. The longer it takes your blog to load, the more chance you run of losing that viewer. While banners, photographs and advertisements are excellent for grabbing attention, over-saturation can detract from the usefulness of your blog, and drive viewers elsewhere. Make your blog user-friendly for all, from those with high-speed connections to those who are stuck with dial-up. A blog that loads quickly is more likely to hold a reader’s interest and therefore attract them to those moneymaking elements that you will be offering on your blog!

Hand in hand with smooth operation, you need to present your best blog ‘face’ to the internet. Remember the popular adage about never getting a second chance to make a first impression! Try a more simplistic approach. Keep graphics and decorations to a minimum, and focus on the content! Pick fonts, colors and backgrounds that are easy to read and minimize the use of flashing, animated .gif files and advertisements. Invest in a professionally created theme that gives your blog style and flow without lots of noise, and use your content to direct viewers where you want them to go!

So, you’ve got the content, usability and style tweaked, now all you need to make money with your blog is lots of traffic! Maintaining the quality of your blog is just one step in gaining readership. You will also need to learn how to market yourself and your blog in order to realize the monetary returns you’re seeking! Self promotion does not equal spamming, however! In order to build a following, you need to take a genuine interest in others, and prove that you have something to offer! Don’t join social networks and bookmarking sites merely for selfish purposes. Participate! Get to know other people. Learn from other bloggers. Join forums and groups that pertain to your interests, hobbies, and blogging subjects, and spark conversations.

Once you start to build traffic for your blog, you will want to explore some different options for making money. Keeping in mind that your key focus should be content and usability, try to coordinate income streams with the purpose and style of your blog. Research affiliate programs for companies that tie into your blog’s subject. Sell advertising space on your own or through one of the many popular advertising programs available online. In addition to making money through affiliations and advertising, you may want to consider starting your own line of merchandise as well. T-shirts, mugs, and more can be sold through online stores, or directly from your blog.

You have the ultimate control over the impression you want to make, the direction and success you can have at making money through blogging. With careful planning, attention and maintenance, you’ll be on your way to creating your own success!
