Things you’ll need
1/2 cup yogurt, plain nonfat
2/3 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoon margarine or butter, softened
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon sugar
11/2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons regular active dry yeast or quick-acting yeast
Bread Machine
Step 1
Dust off the bread machine. Place all ingredients in the bread pan in the order listed above. Insert bread pan, close lid, and plug in. Most people remove the pan when putting the ingredients in; I don’t as it is one less step. Most people remove the pan; I don’t as it is one less step.
Step 2
Choose the Sourdough bread option on your bread maker. If you want, you can bake your loaf in the bread maker. Or, I like mine to look like Sourdough bread (round), so I like to let my bread maker make the dough and I shape it, and let it rise again.
Step 3
When you bread dough is done, remove the pan. Lightly flour your countertop or a smooth surface and flour your hands. Carefully remove your dough and gently roll out with your hands into one round loaf, or you can make bread sticks and make several long loaves. The shape is all up to you! Place on a cookie sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until your meal is almost ready.
Step 4
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake until golden brown. For 15-20 minutes for a large round loaf. The baking time will vary; just keep an eye on your bread and let your nose tell you when it is done!
Warnings
Do not use the delay bake option on your bread machine for this recipe as the yogurt could go bad during the waiting time.

I like the bread machine recipes that say put ingredients in in order listed. It makes it so much simpler. Thanks.
Kate, let me know how you like the bread. If you have any trouble, adjust for high altitude as I live about a mile above sea level.
I dearly love sourdough bread and this sounds easy to make. Thank you for sharing.
