These days, people go to Broadway shows in anything from sweatpants to dress clothes. Obviously, somebody's getting it wrong - so how should you dress?

Dress appropriately for the season. There's no reason to freeze in a mini-dress in the middle of the winter. A warm sweater and nice pants will keep you warm during the winter months. Or, a nice dress or lightweight pants and business casual shirt will keep you cool in the summer.

Dress respectfully. Ask yourself: if someone came to my business meeting dressed like this, how would I feel? You are going to view a show that a lot people put a lot of work into. The performers are happy to be performing for you. Dress nicely and show that you care.

You can wear jeans, but you'll need to dress them up with nice shoes, a nice shirt and nice accessories. However, workout sneakers are a no-go for a Broadway show.  Dress shoes are great, and females can wear ballerina flats for a stylish and comfortable look.

If you love fashion, this is an excellent time to dress up and show your New York fashion sense. There is a lot of great fashion in New York, and this is your chance to be a part of that. Think of seeing a Broadway show of enjoying a fun, exciting night on the town.

Dress comfortably! You may look fantastic, but walking through New York in high heels may not be comfortable for you. Flats are a great alternative for heels, in this case. Also, a sweater that is itchy on a normal day will be extra itchy when you're seated for two hours.
