A quick reminder on how to get focused before a game.

Mental preparation is one of the most important parts of an individual's sports performance. Some players have all the skills in the world, but if they are not mentally prepared they would not be able to implement their skills. One of the best ways to be mentally prepared is to practice visualization.

Go over your plays the night before. Be ready when you go to bed.

Visualize the game. Visualization is one of the most important parts to being prepared for a game.

Stay calm and collected before the game and try not to get upset or dwell on something you are upset about.

You need to be visualizing, but at the same time enjoy it and have fun. It is hard to play at your best if you are not having fun at what you are doing.

Get to the dressing room early. Do not get there just in time and be rushed to get dressed and go play. You want to feel collected before you start in playing ball.

Keep motivated. You need to have in mind what motivates you to play hard or why you play ball in the first place.

Make goals. Before you even start the game have a goal set for the game. Before the game starts share your goal with a few others (not to brag). If you share your goals then you are more likely to be motivated to complete your goal.

I always listened to music to keep me focused and to keep me motivated. Music drives your soul. Any good ball player listens to some specific band before he/she goes to preform.

Do not do anything that takes up a lot of your energy before the game. You want to save as much of your energy for the game.

Have fun, have fun, have fun, have fun,.... and play ball.
