What Never to Feed Young Children!!

If you are as protective as me, then I get any, and all the medical information I can gather when it comes to my children and grandchildren. Here's a NO-NO food item when it comes to children. Read more . . . .

Peanuts are easily aspirated into the lungs, and peanuts are one of the most common, and dangerous, foods to which one may develop an allergy.

Most at risk are those from high-risk families where both parents or one parent and a sibling are food-allergic. Even trace quantities can trigger an attack in peanut-allergic individuals. You will see caution warnings on many items these days stating that the item may contain traces of peanuts, etc.

A good example that I just seen on World News was that a boy began wheezing when a jar of peanut butter was merely opened nearby.

Make sure that you alert the childs teachers and other caregivers to the food allergy, and have the child wear a Medic-Alert bracelet ( Call 888-633-4298 for information). Older children should be taught to use spring loaded syringes of epinephrine to wark off attacks after inadvertently ingesting a food to which they are allergic.

Another problem I see is Infant Tooth Decay. Make sure your child's teeth are treated with floride and avoid sweet substances on pacifiers. Use plain water in his/her bottle at bedtime, and clean teeth and gums with a washcloth after feeding. Brush his/her teeth once a day starting at age two or before and begin regular dental checkups as soon as the child's 20 baby teeth have erupted. This is pursuant to S. Grossman, DDS, Co-chief of Pediatric Dentistry.

Thank you for this article. :) I’ve always wondered about the things that I should avoid giving young children.
