Short of a lab mixing and mingling the x chromosome and the y chromosome for you in a petri dish, can you really choose your baby's gender before you conceive?

Short of a lab mixing and mingling the x chromosome and the y chromosome for you in petri dish, can you really choose your baby's gender before you conceive?

There are a lot of folk tales about not just how to conceive a specific gender but also on how to tell when you're pregnant what the baby's gender is by testing with wedding rings, peeing on specific substances, etc.  That stuff is all in good fun when you're pregnant but what if you're serious about taking steps ahead of conception to tip the scales in favour of one gender or another?

Is a mother able to choose her baby’s gender based on when the baby is conceived, how she eats, what her husband consumes or other factors?  There are web sites and seminars that now promise to show you how to decide if you’re going to get pregnant with a girl or boy–and some will even guarantee it!

Baby Gender Selection Methods

There are a lot of reasons why you might have a preference for a baby of a certain gender; especially if you’ve got a brood full of one gender already and this is your last try to get the baby girl or baby boy that would complete your family.

There have been seminars on baby gender selection in the past that people have gone to in order to learn the secrets of how to get a baby boy or baby girl specifically.  While the sperm dictates whether or not the baby will be a boy or girl, some of the factors that are said by experts to impact the gender of a conceived baby include:

  • Vitamin and supplement use
  • pH level of the body of the mother and the father
  • Whether or not the female has an orgasm during sex
  • Foods eaten by Daddy
  • Foods eaten by Mommy
  • Timing during the cycle of the female
  • Sexual position
  • types of underwear worn by the Daddy
  • and more

Is it ethical to try to sway the odds for what type of baby you have?  Of course, it is! You're not doing anything illegal or immoral by eating a certain vitamin or opting to wait for a specific day of the month to conceive in the hopes that you'll complete your family with your little angel.  Safety is important of course and if you're unsure about the safety of anything you read, it's wise to talk to your doctor. And, of course don't be so determined that it it wouldt be the end of the world if you didn't get your little girl or boy this time around.
