Kusudama is a form of origami, using the same pieces of origami unit and forming it to the shape of a ball. There are many different types used, this article is a step by step guide to show you how to form the flower origami ball: kusudama (part 2)

If you have not learned how to make the flower unit (part one), it is here.

Items needed:

  • 12 flowers (60 petals)
  • glue
  • small rope or yarn

After creating 12 flowers or 60 petals, we will now work on creating the kusudama.

Remember the 'center' piece and glue to flowers around the center piece gently. Apply glue on the 'outside' of the flower. It should now be five flowers surrounding one flower.

Create a 'hanging' piece with your rope/yarn, leaving 2 inches for the 'bottom' of the kusudama.

Flip over the diagrahm and take your rope/yarn and glue it to the center. Let dry.

Put together the other half of your kusudama, glueing the five flowers around the one flower.

We are almost done. Glue the two half kusudamas together now, carefully starting around the top, working your way down.

The white flower was just a demonstration for the center piece. This is what it will look like if you used the same colors for your kusudama.
