Saving money is what we attempt to do at our home. Over the past 50 years I have come up with everyday recipes that can you have in your home right now. Read more. . . . . .

Glass Cleaner - How to Make You're Own!!

Fill a spray bottle with nonsudsing household ammonia and rubbing alcohol in a 50:50 ratio. Label and keep out of the reach of your children. This solution is also great for chrome and cleaning fixtures in the bathroom and kitchen. What this lacks in fragrance it mores than makes up in cleaning and disinfecting power. This may damage painted surfaces.

Glass Cleaner # 2 Trick

Mix 1 cup of white vinegar, 1 cup of ammonia, and 1 tablespoon of mild detergent, and enough water to fill a clean, gallon size plastic jug. Lable, and keep it tightly capped, and keep it out of the reach of your children.

To use: Pour the solution into a spray bottle. Spray the window and wait about 30 seconds. Then wipe the window thoroughly with newspapers, turning paper often.

How to Identify Cleaners

I add a tiny drop of food coloring to a cleaning mix in a spray bottle in order to distinguish the contents from other sprays. This will not affect the cleaner.

Glass cleaner Tip # 3

Add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 1/2 cup of white vinegar to 1 gallon of warm water. Now you have a great glass cleaner.

Garbage Disposal Cleaner

I mix 1 cup of chopped lemon, orange, or grapefruit (rind and all); to 1 cup of baking soda; and 1 1/2 cups of water. Pour this into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid. Remove your cubes, and place in plastic bag if you don't intend to use them immediately, and label them.

To Use, I turn on my disposal unit, and drop 6 to 10 ice cubes down the shoot, and let the machine grind them up. Rinse with cold water. You're garbage disposal is now clean and smells great.

How I Make You're Own Furniture Polish

I mix 3 parts olive oil with 1 part lemon juice or vinegar in a blender. I then blend on high to emulsify, and apply with a clean, soft cloth.

I make my own Eyeglass Cleaner

I mix 1/3 cup of isopropyl rubbing alcohol with 1 cup of water. Put it in a spray bottle and it's ready to use.
