16 Creative College Party Theme Ideas

Throwing a party in college is fun, but finding fun themes can be difficult!  Some college party themes are definitely played out, so here are sixteen college theme party ideas to help spark your imagination.

Greek Gods & Goddesses Party
There are a lot of myths about the Greek Gods and Goddesses of ancient times and each guest can do a little research to figure out which Greek God or Goddess they would like to be.  This can be a twist on the typical toga party.  How cool would it be to have Cupids buzzing around a party with fake love arrows?  Or Aphrodite the Goddess of Love?  Or Diana, the hunter, who is associated with trees and animals?

Easter Beer Hunting Party
Have each person bring their own ice cold 6-pack of beer, then hide all the beer around the backyard, house or where ever the party is and go on a beer hunt.  Make sure to drink and find the beer as quickly as possible, otherwise you risk having to drink warm beer towards the end of the hunt.

Wine Tasting Party
Have each person bring a bottle of wine of any kind, $2 Buck Chuck, whatever.  Then have some others bring different types of cheeses and breads to taste.  This would be a fun way to introduce people to new types of wine and cheese.  Who knows, you may make a wine lover out of someone!

Art / Painting Party
If your friends are artistic, then consider a painting party!  Have everyone bring some art supplies, like paints, markers, brushes, paper, etc... Then have fun doing portraits of one another or other types of art and then "auction" them off to one another at the end of the party.

Color Theme Party
This may get some folks seeing red for days, but how about choosing a color that everyone has to wear.  Say all black or all white (a little cultish, huh?) or maybe red.  This would make for some cool pictures.  The drinks and snacks can also be part of the color theme - red spiked punch or red wine.

Pirate Theme Party
Have everyone dress like a pirate, 'nuff said.

Sushi Making Party
Okay, this could get a little pricey, so split up the costs so that everyone can bring a little bit of something.  Aside from the sushi ingredients, bring saki, plum wine, and an assortment of Japanese beers.

Formal Forties - not a decades theme party!
Have everyone dress up really nice and also have everyone bring a forty once of beer (or two). 

Rave Party
Everyone can dress up in florescent colors, complete with baby pacifiers.  Have some trance music prepared and some glowsticks available.  Strategically place black lights around the main area of the party and turn out the regular lights.

ABC (Anything But Clothes) Party
This is where all party goers are not allowed to wear clothes - they can wear anything else.  Think garbage bags, sheets, boxes, etc...

Mustache Party
Only those with a mustache may enter, regardless of whether it is drawn on with a Sharpie or not.

Hawaiian / Beach Party (No sand or waves required)
This would work best on a warm summer's night and not really during winter break.  Girls can come in swimsuits and sandels and guys can come in board shorts and sunglasses.  Have Hawaiian leis available to wear and cute little umbrellas for the drinks.

Casino / Las Vegas Party Theme
You can set up poker and blackjack tables.  Have some girls volunteer to dress as waitresses, no serving actually necessary, but just to add to the ambiance.  Other girls can dress like showgirls.  Guys can dress up like a high roller or as pimp.

Carnival / Rio de  Janeiro Party
In Brazil, the Carnival is the biggest party of the year.  This is when men and women go crazy and dress up in all kinds of glitter and body paint.  Have everyone where their flashiest outfits and offer glitter body paint as one of the party activities.

South of the Border Party
A party theme of Mexico could be really fun -- have all the drinks be imports from Mexico, Coronas, Sols, margaritas, and even tequila.  The snacks can be chips and salsa.  There can be sombreros and pinatas!

Robot Party Theme
Have everyone come as a robot. This could be painting themselves silver and dressing in silver clothes.  Or maybe find a big enough box to fit into complete with button and dials.  Have a contest for the best robot and the worst robot costumes.  And feel free to talk like a robot throughout the night!
