Breast cancer and women health: Treating breast cancer with chemotherapy. You found out that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and that you'll be in for removal surgery

You found out that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and that you'll be in for removal surgery. What will happen next? You will probably be given additional treatment after your surgery to keep the cancer cells from coming back. After surgery, there may still a chance of recurring cancer cells. There may be fragments of cancer cells that have not been completely removed and those can continue to grow. Additional treatment after surgery will keep cancer cells from coming back. It's called adjuvant therapy and it could include any combination of chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy and combination therapy.

Your doctor will assess to see which is the best type for you. Most likely you will receive chemotherapy because it's one of the mainstream methods of treatment. Chemotherapy will enter the blood and destroy cancer cell. It's taking by mouth or by injections and IVs. The cycle is usually two to three week cycles. Doctors are considering dose dense treatment where it's every two weeks instead of every three weeks to make it more effective.

You will probably need to know the different chemotherapy drugs and there are about 7 of them that are often giving in combination because combination work more effectively to eradicate your cancer. According to Mayo clinic, the different types of chemotherapy drugs are Cyclophosphamide, docetaxel, doxorubicin, epirubicin, fluorouracil, methotrexate, and paclitaxel. You probably know that they will have some unpleasant side effects like hair loss, sore, nausea, vomiting, pain and loss of appetite. It's unpleasant but it can help to minimize your cancer stage.
