a movie review on the animated film "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" directed by Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook

Okay, I know it's not the newest in the bunch and I know it was released 6 years ago but the movie's just heartbreaking that I want to write about it still! So anyway, here's what Spirit is all about:

"indomitable spirit", spunk and enthusiasm and all, soaring and flying and just being free! :)

Now I know why wild animals are hard to tame (and you will too if you’ll watch the film!), nothing will ever beat their homeland.

As you can probably tell from the title, Spirit is actually a horsie. :) Yup, he's the star in the film. So with that (the lead role being an animal that is) little dialogue was presented all throughout the film and these all came from supporting characters like the Indians and some soldiers. This is another element that I like about the movie because even though it's a movie for the kids they didn't think of making the horses sing or dance or even talk. Dreamworks did it again by reflecting so much life and expression on each of the character's (may it be human or animal) faces. It's up to you to decipher what they're feeling and what they’re trying to say.

The story's not that deep but the fact that it isn't quite as in-depth as other movies are doesn't mean it's a bad film. The plot's alluringly simple which makes it such a beautiful and memorable movie :)

And last but not the least, the songs (all by Bryan Adams) and musical scores (Hans Zimmer) are much to be appluaded.

So to sum it all up, the main reasons why you’ll fall for this movie would have to be the intricately drawn animation (which I think is better than computer animated ones), an endearing story with some comedy elements and a wonderful soundtrack. :)

Watch it with the whole family!
