Make a Pyramid Out of Sugar Cubes
Make a pyramid out of sugar cubes with your kids!
Make a pyramid out of sugar cubes with your kids! This is a great activity for a boring rainy day and the children will love the fact that they get to do a project using something edible. They'll want to show all their friends how to do it, too.
If you're going to make a pyramid out of sugar cubes, you'll need to start by gathering your supplies. You will need a couple hundred sugar cubes, a square piece of cardboard, some glue, and some paint. You could use a hot glue gun if you are going to do the gluing, otherwise it's best to use a safe non-toxic glue that the kids can use on their own. The same goes for the paint. If the children will be using it on their own, you will want to make sure that the paint you buy is safe for them. You never know what a child might put in their mouth, so it's better to be safe that sorry!
Now, to make a pyramid out of sugar cubes, put some glue on your cardboard square. Start placing your sugar cubes onto your cardboard sqare. Make sure you place the same number of cubes across as you do down. For instance, there might be both 10 cubes across and 10 cubes down. Now, glue sugar cubes to fill in the square. If your first square had 10 cubes, then your second square will have 9 cubes, the third will have 8. Keep layering the squares until you reach the top. You will have a pyramid when you are through.
You now know how to make a pyramid out of sugar cubes. Time to decorate. Get the paint out and let the children choose the colors they'd like to use. You might even break out the glitter or some stickers for increased fun. Let them go wild and make sure to take their pictures to document the day they learned how to make a pyramid out of sugar cubes.
