RISK IS BIGGER WHEN THE THREAT IS BIGGER
Tungod, Inabanga, Bohol – Mexican Antonio “Loaded Hands” Margarito is arguably in the best fighting shape of his career. On the other hand, celebrated boxing trainer Freddie Roach has branded their preparation as the worst training camp they’ve ever had. It seems like Team Margarito has almost everything to be excited about. Pound for pound king Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao of the Philippines is apparently behind schedule and is cramming to get himself ready for his toughest assignment to date. Observations by, or shall we say confessions from, Team Pacquiao members have also indicated that the effect of adding a few more pounds to Pacquiao’s lightweight frame has somehow reached the threshold of significance. When the opponent is bigger and heavier, it is important to build more muscles and increase muscle mass to make one less susceptible and vulnerable. This is true in all sports disciplines that involve physical contact. However, doing so has a corresponding adverse effect on another essential aspect of an athlete – speed. That’s the reason why in general, smaller people are faster and more agile than their bigger counterparts.

PACQUIAO MAY BE AN EXCEPTION, BUT…
The Pinoy firebomb will need every bit of speed and reflex to avoid Margarito’s expectedly unforgiving onslaught and to execute his own offense with deadly precision and accuracy. Pacquiao’s first order of business come fight night should be to avoid an early exchange. More than ever, the man better known as the “Pacman” or “Mexicutioner” needs to be patient and calculating in his attack. His speed and timing will be very crucial, especially in the early goings of the fight.

MARGARITO WILL DEFINITELY WISH FOR A BRAWL!
Looking back at the Margarito-Cotto tussle, the “Tijuana Tornado” was relentless. He took Cotto’s best shots. Cotto hit Margarito with punches that would have brought other fighters down and out. He didn’t care if he got hit so many times for as long as he was able to dish out his own barrage of punches, pinning the erstwhile undefeated Puerto Rican to the ropes where he wanted the fight to take place. Cotto felt he could win in a brawl against Margarito, especially considering the fact that the “Boricuan Bomber” has inflicted considerable damage to his opponent in the earlier rounds. That proved to be a huge mistake and a very costly decision. Margarito hurt Cotto more than Cotto could hurt Margarito and the rest is history.

SUPREME TEST FOR PACQUIAO’S DEFENSE!
There is probably no better way to gauge Pacquiao’s defensive skills than this scheduled faceoff with Margarito. Pacquiao’s defense will be tested to the hilt against a fighter who knows nothing but offense. Margarito will come straight at Pacquiao in full force and no hesitation. We’ve heard a lot about Margarito’s come forward fighting style as a perfect fit for Pacquiao, but come to think of it… it as well comes with a great deal of risk and danger. It still remains to be known whether Pacquiao is durable enough to take Margarito’s best shots or whether Margarito is tough enough to withstand Pacquiao’s extraordinary volume of punches or not. Margarito knows that his best chance is to make a brawl out of it and take his chances. Pacquiao should also know better than allow it to happen. But then again, Pacquiao is fighter. He loves exchanges and also finds satisfaction in getting hit. If you are a Pacquiao fan and are still in the denial of this reality, try to remember any of his previous fights where he didn’t get hit. This is not to say that his speed is suspect... but the bottom line is that he gets hit, and at times with his consent, however awkward and stupid it may sound.

As a Mexican and EXTREME fan of Boxing, I was very very disappointed and saddened when I heard about Margarito’s illegal hand wraps vs Mosley. I glad he got suspend a whole year, he got lucky it wasn’t more. BUT, IF Margarito BEATS Manny Pacquiao (which if he does, it would be fair & square, Margarito and his team wouldn’t be that stupid to try and cheat again, and I’m sure Pacquiao’s team as well as the Texas commission will be paying close attention to Margarito’s hand wraps and EVERYTHING else he does) my faith in Margarito will, and my appreciation would return for Margarito momentarily. WHY? Because if Margarito beats Pacquiao GREAT!!!!!! but I want Margarito to fight Sugar Shane Mosley in the Rematch, and beat Mosley CONVINCINGLY, he needs to AVENGE his loos against “Sugar” and if he does then my faith, admiration, and overall excitement of Antonio the ” Tijuana Tornado” will RETURN… Pacquiao is the first step, then (I hope) Mosley would be the second one, and God willing, Pretty Boy Floyd would be the third and step. P.S. I forgot I want Margarito to also avenge his loss against Paul Williams. Whoever told Margarito that it’s pac’s speed that will kill stop him is either out of his mind or doesn’t know boxing, it’s pac’s power that will end this fight
Wake up man. This article should have been release 2 weeks ago when Bob Arum made a statement. But Pacman already bounce back he’s back on track. So why worry to much. Seems like you drunk a lot of caffeine while writing this. haha…
Pacquiao is not known only for his speed…but the power of his punches (and he gives them in bunches)..and he is also known to take hits as well, although in the lower weight class divisions (and also in the welter weight divisions). The only questions that has been bugging me is wther he could knock a much bigger Margarito down like he did Hatton, Cotto, et al. or if he could take Margarito’s punches, who will be expected to be 165lbs by fight night.
Margarito is slow and flat footed. If Manny will fight like he did in the de la Hoya match, I wouldn’t worry so much. Margarito will have a hard time searching for targets and Manny will slowly but methodically dismantle him. If Margarito wants a brawl, first he should ask Hatton what it feels like doing that against Pac.
Yes, Manny got hit by Cotto and Clottey but it doesn’t mean that his defense is poor. First, you should see how frustrated Pacquiao was by the lack of competitiveness by his opponents. If you want to see Pacquiao’s defense, just watch the de la Hoya fight over and over again (and the Hatton fight, as well…especially the first knockdown), watch it in slow motion…you will know what I’m talking about
I don’t think that margarito is that powerful he don’t have that one punch KO unlike pacman he can deliver a punch that can take out opponent , he relies on cumulative punch, if he attacks pacquiao early it will be a big mistake because he will suffer the same fate as hatton.
From looking at Margarito’s pictures in training, he is definitely on steroids. I should know, I’ve done steroids and I hang out at the gym with guys who are on steroids. I can tell what a body looks like if they are on steroids or not. Take a look at some of Margarito’s pictures, he is totally vascular. He got veins running on his abs, shoulders, chest, etc. Margarito knows this is his last fight, he got enough money on this fight to retire on.
IF HE IS CAUGHT AFTER THE FIGHT, HE IS NOT GOING TO PAY ANY FINE. HE WILL JUST RETIRE WITH HIS FAT PAYCHECK.
Margarito is always talking about his power to knock out Pacquiao. Marg will be strong in the fight, he will be like a bull, he’ll walk through a lot of Pacquiao’s punches. But he will get cut, that is how Margarito will be stopped in the very late rounds, on cuts.
Considering both fighters got powers….both could take punches…both got stamina and can deliver more than 100 punches per round…I think speed matters…...All of Margarito’s power, and size advantage meant nothing if he can’t land a punch to Pac. If Pac don’t want to get hit, his opponents could barely land a good shot. So what do Margarito got left? His iron cast chin! yes..that’s all he have in which I beleive, Pac can break with his Sledge Hammer Left Straight and Hook. Accumulation of punches will melt margarito down.. He will get punish…..He will finally pay his for cheating…...
