It's no wonder Navy Pier is the top tourist destination in Chicago. There's loads of fun for kids--a children's museum, a 150-foot-high Ferris wheel, a twirling swing ride, miniature golf and more. Plus, there's live theater and music, restaurants and a food court, and tons of boutiques to pick up souvenirs. General admission to Navy Pier is free, but there are additional costs for events and attractions. Some things that you should bring along on your trip to Navy Pier include plenty of spending money, a good camera, and walking shoes. There is plenty of walking to do at the pier! And don't forget to get a good night's sleep! - You will need plenty of energy to get you back and forth around the pier.
You can enjoy a view of Lake Michigan near Navy Pier by riding in one of their water taxis to the pier. The water taxis can be found across the lake at Shed Aquarium, Michigan Ave, Museum Campus, and 200 South Wacker. You can get up close and personal with the sparkling blue waters of Lake Michigan and ride the waves to enter Navy Pier. Taxi rides begin at $3.00 and booths are available in the selected areas to purchase your tickets.
Begin walking down the pier to experience the sights and sounds of the hustling destination. Smell all of the side vendors selling hotdogs, Hawaiian ices, and other treats. Preview all of the gift shops where you can buy souvenirs to take home. Buy Navy Pier t-shirts, key chains, postcards, hats, and more. Be sure to stop by the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel and get a chance to view the pier from above. It is 150 foot of fun that spins you around for a precious seven minutes.
