President Barack Obama recently passed a gigantic economic stimulus plan at a cost of over $780 billion. It has programs inside it covering all sorts of new projects. However, exactly who it covers may surprise you.

I've been asked before many times: Who is eligible for the stimulus package?  The list of who is covered in the economic stimulus bill is different depending on who exactly you ask, however.  Since it will be state and local governments who are allocating some of these stimulus funds, President Obama does not have direct control over every dime that is spent.  Nevertheless, a significant portion of the economic stimulus bill already has designated targets to help.  Let's take a look at the primary recipients [information obtained from Recovery.gov]:

-$288 Billion in Tax Relief - This includes tax incentives for business to create jobs, become more energy efficient, as well as individual tax cuts for anyone making under $200,000.  The stimulus checks should be mailed shortly

$144 Billion in State and Local Relief - This is a lot harder to determine exactly who it will go to.  The state legislature and governor have some flexibility about where exactly to employ these funds, although general guidelines are in place.  Since each state has it's own diverse problems

$111 Billion in Infrastructure and Science - These funds will mostly be used by businesses and academic institutions to improve our roads, highways, and increase the pace of scientific progress in vital areas like energy independance.

$81 Billion in Protecting the Vulnerable - This includes unemployment insurance, welfare, and other such funding for those who are most at risk from being in danger from this recession.

$59 Billion in Healthcare - This will include the starting funds to totally revamp our healthcare system.

$53 Billion in Education and Training - This will be used by schools and universities from around the nation to modernize and help make sure that teachers and educators have all the resources they need to make learning real.
