Colic symptoms in a baby can start as early as a 2 weeks after birth and last  6 months. Some of the symptoms of a baby with colic are usually crying for hours at a time usually starting about the same time every day. And it will seem that anything you do to try to comfort your baby just doesn't work. Some other symptoms may include excessive spitting up. gas, bloating.
Colic can be stressful for parents and caregivers too as well as for the baby. below are some steps you can take to help comfort and ease your baby's colic symptoms.

First as always check with your childs doctor if your baby is having any of the symptoms as given above.
If you are breastfeeding your baby try eating foods that are non-gassy and see if this helps. Sometimes removing dairy from your diet can also help ease your breastfeeding baby's colic symptoms since some children as well as adults will have an intolerance or allergy to dairy that will cause colic symptoms. Just ask your physician first to let them know this.

If you are not breastfeeding and are using a bottle try switching formulas with a doctors approval. Like I said before dairy may be the culprit of your childs colic symptoms. My son has a intolerance to dairy and had colic for 6 months although I didn't know he had an intolerance to dairy until he was 2 years old. This could of saved us alot of stress and exhaustion. There are formulas that are made with soy, lactose free formulas and hypo allergenic formulas such as Alimentum that can help ease colic or help the symptoms totally disappear. I sure wish I knew this when my son had colic.

Another solution to help baby out with colic and painful gas is by using Infants’ MYLICON® Drops. Mylicon drops can be given after baby's' meals and at bedtime or whenever your physician tells them to be given.

By giving an infant massage you can help your baby release gas and feel more relaxed. You can use baby oil, lotion or infant massage oil and massage baby from head to toe, but remember to keep lotion and oil away from mouth and eyes. My son always loved infant massages and was more relaxed afterwards

Laying your baby into a battery operated vibrating chair really helps too. My son had to sleep in his since his colic was so bad. Some parents also set their children in a pumpkin seat on top of a washer or dryer for the mild vibration. Just be sure to not leave your child unattended.6

I know this might sound like everyone should know this one but, be sure to burp your child after every time he or she eats. Some parents just don't realize that this needs to be done so often.
Pushing your baby around in his stroller may help too. I used to go to the mall and push my son around in his stroller for hours and he would love it and his colic subsided during this. Watch out not too spend too much money shopping though.

And finally, what I used to have to do constantly is walk up and down the hallways in my home holding my son in a cradle position rocking and gently bouncing him at the same time. But watch out because I tore tendons in my shoulder from doing this repetitively. Unlike me, try stretching out a bit before doing this. But then again I did have to do this for 6 months. So don't stress out too much parents I've gotten through the colic and so can you. It may seem like a long road with no sleep but you will make it.
