Homemade Salsa

Sep 30th, 2010 by MsCompton

Salsa is a healthy snack anyone can enjoy. Store bought salsa has a bland taste that cannot compare to homemade. Here is a great recipe for homemade delicious salsa. Add any ingredients you prefer. Make it personal for your taste buds. Here is a general idea.

1 Sweet Vadalia Onion
2 Garlic Cloves
4 Large Tomatoes
2 Jalapeno Peppers
Bunch of Cilantro
Lime Juice ((3 tablespoons))
Salt / Pepper to taste.
Corn ((one can- more if you like))
Black Olives ((one can- more if you like))
Black Beans ((2 cups))

Quick Note: The easiest way to prepare the salsa is to put all ingredients in a blender and blend on low until you reach a chucky consistency. If you do not have a blender follow the next steps:

  1. In medium pot, add beans and cover with warm water.
  2. Bring water to a boil.
  3. Once boiling lower temperature to medium heat.
  4. Let cook for one hour and continue to stir frequently.
  5. Chop onion, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, and cilantro.
  6. Mince the garlic cloves.
  7. Get out a big mixing bowl.
  8. Pour all chopped ingredients into bowl.
  9. Add lime juice, salt, pepper, corn, black olives, and black beans to bowl.
  10. Mix everything throuoghly and cover with aluminum foil.
  11. Refrigerate. Once cool... eat it up. Healthy Snack if paired with baked chips and not fried.

You can add and subtract ingredients to make this your salsa. I just gave a rough estimate of ingredients to use. I usually taste it while I am making it to keep up with all that I put in my salsa.
