Ten reasons to enjoy vegetarian meals

There are many reasons people give for becoming a vegetarian. Some do it to avoid animal cruelty. Some say it is healthier. I want to share ten reasons why I enjoy a good vegetarian meal.

Once upon a time I thought all vegetarians were a little "out there", "extremists", and frankly, a little crazy.  I could not understand any reason why eating meat and potatoes wasn't the best, the most normal way to eat.  What a surprise to find, when I woke up one day, that I had become a vegetarian!  Okay, maybe it wasn't overnight, but I did surprise myself.

Here are ten reasons I truly apprectiate and enjoy a good vegetarian meal.

Reason one:  I live in town and I can grow vegetables.  You cannot easily raise edible animals in town without raising the ire of your neighbors.

Reason two:  Vegetables have only been eaten by me and they have eaten no other living thing first.  For example, some animals eat other animals and others eat the vegetables first.  Of course, some eat both.

Reason three:  The body works better when it has had its required share of fiber.  Fiber is best when it is natural and you cannot get more natural than vegetables.

Reason four:  Unless you cover them with tons of fatty additions, there is very little fat to add to your hips when enjoying vegetarianism.

Reason five:  Many of my friends are vegetarians and I do not have to wonder what to feed them.  I already know and enjoy what they eat too!

Reason six:  Vegetables and grains are less expensive than a decent cut of meat.  I save money eating the way I do!

Reason seven:  Vegetarian food doesn't weigh heavy on my stomach.  I don't finish a meal and feel like I have eaten a ton of bricks.

Reason eight:  Vegetables and grains digest faster in the digestive system.  That's one reason vegetarians live longer.

Reason nine:  Everywhere you go, vegetables abound.  It is easier to find them and it is easier to tell if they are healthy.

Reason ten:  Healthy is as healthy does and the vegetarian diet is very healthy!  This is a lifestyle choice that is worth taking!
