Everyday in the news we hear the startling facts of our current economic state. Everyone is looking for extra ways to stretch their dough. Here are some ideas to trim the fat from your budget.

Step1
Create a budget, stick to it, and save any extra money!
Step2
Buy in bulk. The savings are astonishing! Checkout your local warehouse stores website to compare their prices to what you are already paying at the store. Does 5 pounds of ground chuck sound excessive? Not at all, portion it out and freeze it. Same goes for veggies, you can slightly steam them then freeze them.
Step3
Stock up on savings. If there is a great deal at the store, buy two! Use a coupon as well to really bring the price down.
Step4
Evaluate your grocery list. What items are necessities and which ones are wants? As hard as it might be, get rid of the junk food! Make a shopping  list and stick to it. Plan meals ahead and buy what you need. For further savings, clean out your pantry and freezer and implement what you already have to your meals.
Step5
Look for printable coupons online before you head to the store or go out to dinner. If shopping online, search for coupon codes before you check out.
Step6
Make your own household cleaners from ingredients you probably have kicking around the house like baking soda, vinegar, and lemons. This will not only save your pocket book but your health and the environment too.
Step7
Stop buying bottled water. Instead, buy a BPA free bottle and fill up at home. Same goes for coffee, make your own at home!
Step8
Take a look at your budget. Divide your monthly expenses into a list of necessities and extras. Evaluate your list of extras. Cancel unnecessary memberships, bring your own lunch to work or school, make dinner at home, cut down on your phone plan, and same goes for cable.
Step9
Check out books, movies, and music from your library.
Step10
Call your insurance company to get a list of available discounts. You maybe eligible for some that you are not getting.
Step11
Cut down on driving. Make as few trips as possible.
Step12
Use your debit or credit card with a rewards program to pay for most of your expenses. There is a variety of merchandise and gift certificates you can redeem your points for. If you use a credit card, keep your spending within your budget and pay off the card each month.
Step13
Plant your own garden. You can make it just big enough to enjoy fresh herbs and veggies when matured or you can go the extra mile and plant double and can the extras. Collect rain water to water your garden.
Step14
Pay bills online to avoid the cost in postage. Some companies even offer discounts to go paperless.
Step15
Buy clothing at the end of the season when it's on clearance.
Step16

Remember that every little bit adds up. If that $20 membership doesn't seem like that much, think of it in the long, that's $240 a year.
