Many soon-to-be parents are left in the dark about how difficult life with a newborn is. Everyone shares encouragement for what an amazing time it is yet leave out the gory details. If expecting parents knew what exhausting times await, they'd prepare themselves for the journey.

Many expecting mothers underestimate how much time will be devoted to their newborn. Don't expect that in your time off that you'll finally be able to organize the basement, you'll be lucky enough to finish a meal within a decent amount of time! Organize your home during pregnancy. Clean out your drawers, cupboards, refrigerator, closets, and any other storage nook in your home.

Deep clean your house and keep it clean! When your bundle of joy has arrived and you finally have some spare time, do you want to spend it cleaning? Get some rest instead by giving your home a thorough wipe down before the baby's arrival.

During the first weeks with your baby, the last thing you'll want to do is run to the store so stock up now! Start stocking up as soon as possible on anything non perishable that you use from soapĀ  to toilet paper to pasta. Take it one step further and buy extra towels, undies, socks, and t-shirts so you'll have extra time before having to do laundry. Most importantly, start buying diapers now!

Preparing a meal can be very daunting with a newborn in tow. Start freezing meals. Awaken your culinary skills and get creative. Make pots of soup and freeze the leftovers, same goes for tomato sauce. Some other suggestions are loaves of bread, cookie dough, or marinated chicken.

Take care of any lingering personal business. Get that oil change, cancel the gym membership, send out your thank you notes from the shower, take care of that insurance claim...etc. Your time will soon become even more valuable then it is now, do not procrastinate while you have the time.

Ask parents you know to name a few things that they wish they had done before their baby came.
