How to get a domain name
this article describes how to easily get a domain name of your own.
In order to get a domain name registered you need to know what kind of domain name you want. Like one I have is findingmyzen.com. So, go on ahead and think of a good name you want.
But, you also want to think about is it for a business, commercial, personal or an organization or an informative website? You can order:
.com, .net, .biz, .org, .info, .name, .us -those are the most widely used in the U.S. If you live over sea's you will of course sometimes see: .co, .uk, .ws, .de, .ru and a couple others..
Next you need to understand what each domain represents.
.com= commercial
.net, .name= internet, personal
.biz= business
.org= organization
.us= government, states, county or parish, etc
Once you have established the name and type of domain you want you need to find a registar...the company that will host your domain. Here is a few to get you started that I have liked in the past.
1and1.com
register.com
godaddy.com
officelive.com
A good thing to look for is DEALS..sometimes the registars will offer a free domain for a year. Like Microsoft Office Live small business currently offers, and a free plan-but you have to use their website builder.
A good tip to remember--buy your domain on one market and purchase hosting on another, that way you can change something if you have too and with ease. you also don't have to worry about higher prices on your hosting.
The process to buying your domain is easy, some companies make you use a credit card and others can go straight through paypal, which makes the whole process even easier.
And, you can buy the domain name for a set amount of years. 2, 5 and even 10 years!! But, they up the cost on a per year basis.
