Pros And Cons of Keeping Dogs in Farmville

FarmVille dogs are a fun and helpful feature on Zynga's FarmVille game.  The dogs of FarmVille can be annoying sometimes because of the extra animation, so read on to determine if the pros of having a dog in FarmVille outweigh the cons.

:: Initital Cost::

The initital cost of buying a puppy dog in farmville is high.  Be prepared to shell out 65 FarmVille Cash for each dog.  Some breeds of FarmVille Dog you can buy with coins, but they have a disadvantage.  If you buy a puppy with FarmVille coins, they can run away if you don't feed them every day.  It is possible to get a runaway dog back if you pay 2 FarmVille Cash to bail it out.

:: Feeding and Training ::

FarmVille puppies have to be tended to everyday for them to grow up to be FarmVille Dogs.  It takes 2 full weeks of feeding for the puppies to grow up into dogs.  But you are still not done yet!

FarmVille dogs must be trained to learn tricks!  You must have Dog Treats to train your pets.  There are two ways to get Dog Treats in Farmville: pay 5 FarmVille Cash for 7 Dog Treats in the market, or have your neighbors give them to you as gifts.  If you don't have any FarmVille Cash to burn, Dog Treats may be hard to come by.

:: Possible Lag Issues ::

FarmVillers with slower computers and internet connections have complained that dogs tend to slow down their computer because of the extra animation they take because the dogs follow your avatar around as you work on your farm.

:: Tricks and Fun ::

FarmVille dogs can be fun to keep just for the tricks you can teach them to do.  It will take a lot of Dog Treats, but all dogs can learn how to Roll Over, Play Dead, and Shake!  How fun!  They also follow you around your farm as you harvest your crops.

:: Special Action ::

After your dog is taught the initial three tricks, you can teach them a special action.  Each breed of FarmVille Dog has a different action they can perform once it is taught.  Stock up on those Dog Treats!  

Border Colllies can help harvest 20 animals, Heelers can harvest cows, Sheep Dogs harvest sheep, Terriers can harvest ducks and Golden Retrievers, Shiba Inus, and St. Bernards can fetch. 

These special actions can help you save time while working on your farm, but only you can decide if the pros outweigh the cons!
