Blind Dates and How to Say No

Are your friends constantly trying to set you up on blind dates? Maybe you have no interest. Here are some tips to help you get out of blind dates and maintain your friendships.

Are you tired of getting yet another call from a friend who thinks you need a date, yet they fail to listen that you aren't interested in dating right now? Blind dates can be a lot of fun or they can be a disaster for singles. The disaster can come into play when you are happily single. You may have no desire to go on blind dates, yet your friends are constantly trying to fix you up. How do you tell your friends you are not into the blind date scene without hurting feelings?

You can suddenly have a very full calendar when friends start setting you up for blind dates. Another option is to tell friends that not all singles like blind dates and you appreciate the gesture, but don't have the desire at this stage in your life.

Using the honest and straightforward approach may work or it may not with friends who feel the need to 'fix' your life. Some people can't believe that a person can be happy if they are single.

If you feel like socializing, but not having a formal blind date, suggest to your friends that you go out in a group. This way you don't feel the pressure of a one-on-one blind date, but have the option of socializing. If someone peaks your interest, so be it. Otherwise, you don't feel the need to be fixed up.

As a last resort, if your friend is sneaky and has the blind date to call anyway, you may have to just tell them you don't want to hurt your friend's feelings or theirs, but you'd rather skip the date.

Don't feel guilty for not wanting to go on blind dates like other singles. If you are happy with your life as is, there is no need to go on blind dates just to please someone else. Being pressured to do something you aren't comfortable with can put a strain on your friendship. Singles do not always have to have a full dating calendar to be happy.
