The Holy City of Jerusalem
The Holy City of Jerusalem is sacred to three religious faith, namely Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Jerusalem is the birthplace of Judaism, the religion of the Israelites and Chosen of People of God. Christianity, the religion founded by Jesus Christ, is an offshoot of Judaism. Jesus Christ was a Jewish rabbi.
Islam is the religion founded by Mohammed. This religion started in Medina, Saudi Arabia. But Muslims claim Mohammad ascended to heaven from Jerusalem. Muslims have two mosques in the holy city.Freemasons also consider Jerusalem sacred because it is the site of the Temple of King Solomon. The rituals of Freemasonry were based on the building of the Temple of Solomon.
Jerusalem was originally known as Mt. Moriah, the hill where Father Abraham built an altar to sacrifice his son, Isaac, as a burnt offering. But when Abraham was about the strike Isaac with a knife, Yahweh, the Great Architect of the Universe, stopped him.
In lieu of his son, Abraham offered a goat as a burnt offering. When David became king of Israel, he made Jerusalem the capital city of his kingdom. King Solomon built the temple during the period 960-950 B.C. It was destroyed by the Babylonians under King Nebuchadnezzar in 516 B.C. The Jews were taken as captives to Babylon.
When Cyrus the Great came to power after the fall of Babylon, this Persian monarch permitted Zerubbabel Jewish Priest to go back to Jerusalem to built a second temple in 587 B.C. This temple was destroyed by the Romans under General Titus in 70 A.B. when Rome invaded Jerusalem.
Since then, there has been no Jewish temple on Temple Mount. Instead of a Jewish temple, what stand on the old site are two Muslim shrines: the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque. The Muslims gained control of Jerusalem in 638 A.D. under the sword of Abd- al-Malik, the first caliph. He built the Dome of the Rock in 705 A.D.
In A.D. 715 the Muslims built their second mosque, the Al Aqsa at the southern side of the city. Rome gained control of Jerusalem of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. It was at this time that the second temple of Jerusalem, built by Zerubbabel, was destroyed.
When Jerusalem came under the Roman power, the Jews were driven out of their homeland. They were scattered. This period of Jewish history is called the diaspora. They lost their homeland; they even lost their language. It was by action of the United Nations that the state of Israel was reborn. The new state of Israel was reborn. The new state of Israel was born on May 14, 1948.
This time her capital city is Te. Aviv, no longer Jerusalem. At the foot of Jerusalem, also know as Mt. Zion, is a valley. This valley is known as Meggedo. Bible prophecy assures us that at the end times, the Jews will built a third temple in Jerusalem. But as soon as it is completed, the Arabs (Muslims) will attack this House of God.
This attack will spark the Battle of Armageddon, the last battle on earth between the forces of Yahwee and the forces of Allah. Christians believe that when this war starts, Christ will come (this is His second coming) and He will take his people to His Kingdom above.
