How many things have you procrastinated to do in the last week? Procrastinating can not only cost you time, it will cost you regret, and money. Don't feel guilty about the things you have not done, treat today as a new fresh start. Here are some tips to help you overcome procrastination.

Overcoming procrastination takes effort. It is a habit, that must be learned. Many times you have been trying to change something, but what you are not doing is working. Many times when what we are doing is not working, instead of doing the same thing over and over, we procrastinate and ignore that particular issue.

Decide what you are going to do. Make your plans real by putting them down on paper. Review your list of plans at a set time each day. Write down your daily progress that you have made towards each item on your list. The only way to conquer a task or project is one step at a time.

Tasks that you do not really want to do, but must be done should be on your list. Example tasks would be studying, paying bills, or taking a part time job in spite of what your friends will think or say. Many necessary tasks in life are unpleasant. Many times the circumstances in your life can become more difficult, when you do not do certain tasks. For example if you procrastinate to go to the grocery store, pay your bills, and get up on time to be at work. A harsh outcome of this could be, company coming over and your home has not food in it to welcome them, your water was turned off due to non payment, and you are on suspension for your job. This is a fictional outcome, but it is not too far a stretch for someone who is comfortable procrastinating in taking care of their household and being on time to work.

Create a reward for yourself for doing these unpleasant tasks. This could be a special date each week that you have with your spouse. After working a long week, you could make a special family day to reconnect with your family that you are working hard to support. Be in control of procrastination, and find something nice that you can do for yourself for accomplishing these tasks.
