How to Care For Your Pearl Jewelry

In ancient times kingdoms could be bought with a precious pearl. The classic pearl has represented love, beauty, success, happiness and purity. For centuries it has been a symbol of wealth and social stature & now they are attainable to us all.

First, it is important to know that pearls are made up mostly of water & if not properly cared for with dry and discolor. Once their nacre is damaged nothing will bring back their beauty.

Put your pearls on after cologne, make-up & hairspray (see warning below). Upon removing your pearl necklace, bracelet, earrings or rings, wipe them with a soft cloth and store them in their own soft pouch, velvet roll or individual lined jewelry box.

If something spills on them, wipe them immediately. You may also rinse, but not soak in a bowl of Rosewater Glycerine with room temperature water and wipe dry with a soft cloth.   Important to note:   Pearls need to be worn. If they are to be stored for a while, take them out of their protective pouch and run them through your fingers or against your skin. Your body's natural oils will help keep from drying out & losing their lustre.

  • Important Rule: "Pearls are last to put on and first to take off"
  • Cologne, hairspray, makeup and detergents will damage your pearls.
