Church Signs Are Useful

Jul 30th, 2010 by Viktoria Carrella

When you think of church signs, you may think of large plastic or fiberglass signs that are backlit with large block letters proclaiming the name of the church, its denomination, and its general message.

What you may not think of are the several other signs that churches often use for multiple purposes throughout the year and in the day to day activities of the church. Knowing why churches would use these vinyl or plastic signs can help you decide if your church may benefit. It is also important to know exactly what benefits these signs bring to the church and its workings.

Church signs can be used for anything from pointed guests in the right direction to advertising the church’s presence at a community event, and many things in between. If the church is advertising around town for their vacation bible school or upcoming Sunday school services, they are likely to use vinyl signs that are good for both indoor and outdoor use. In some cases a church may sponsor a local sports team, especially a special needs team who needs a sponsor. In these cases, the church(es) that sponsors the team is likely to use church signs for the sports arena they are playing in. Churches use signs for a bake sale or car wash they are planning, to advertise a special band or pastor for their services, and for pointing their members in the right direction for the nursery, Sunday school and main church area.

So why would a church use these church signs for so many different purposes, what are the benefits? The truth is that the benefits are as numerous as the uses for church signs. For instance, attracting someone to the church for their charitable sponsorship of a special needs team or for their special guest band or pastor can lead to a long-term God-loving member, which is what the church wants. Getting people to come to their car wash or bake sale to build onto the church’s shelter area brings in needed revenue for just that purpose, and getting kids to come to vacation bible school or Sunday school can help introduce children to the education of the bible.
