How to Get Fuel in Farmville

FarmVille is a fast growing game where harvesting, plowing, and seeding your plots of land can take a lot of time if you have to click each plot separately.  Especially with the latest increases in farm size, it is very rare for people with large farms to go without tractors, harvesters, or seeders.  The problem is, this added convenience will cost you SOMETHING.  And that something is fuel.  Fuel can be bought with FarmVille Cash, but that costs real money!  Most of us do not want to spend money on a game.  Read on for a few ways to find fuel throughout FarmVille.

Free Fuel Week

So far there have been two free fuel weeks and there will probably be more.  During free fuel week, you will get extra fuel for logging in every day of free fuel week.  The first day you get one tank, the second day you get 2 tanks and so on until the 7th day!  That can really add up.  Also during free fuel week, you can gift a small can of fuel which is about 1/5 of a full tank. 

Tip: Get your friends to send you lots of fuel by going to your Gift Box and making a wish - this lets you post to your wall and makes it easy for your friends to know what kind of gifts to send you!

Collect those Mystery Eggs

ALL Mystery Eggs give you some chance for at least a little fuel, so collect as many as you can from your friends posts on your news feed.  White Mystery Eggs have the chance of giving a small can of fuel while the new Mystery Eggs may yield 20 Fuel Refills! 

Tip: When gathering items from your news feed, right-click on the "collect" link and then select "Open page in new tab".  This will help you to keep your place on your news feed!  Try not to load your farm the whole way in multiple windows or you will start to get out of sync errors.

When Friends Find Fuel

When your friends find fuel while plowing, they can post them to your news feed.  You can collect 10 these a day, so do it!  The first 2 will be large tanks and the rest will be small tanks.  These add up.  Use the trick to open these in a new tab so you don't loose your place on your news feed.

Tip: When someone posts fuel directly to someone else's wall (fuel found when fertilizing someone else's farm), you can still collect it!  This will count towards your 10-per-day total.

Mystery Gifts

No doubt you have seen those purple boxes with the question marks on them... guess what?  Fuel can be in those, too!  The item you get from the box is highly random, but small cans of fuel as well as 1 fuel refill have been received from these mystery gifts.  Mystery gifts are a giftable item that are almost always available. Wish for Mystery gifts via the Gift Box to make sure your friends know you are collecting them!

Complete Collections

Every completed collection gets you 5 fuel refills.  Collection items can be found through every day farming activities, so don't forget to harvest your animals, your trees and fertilize your neighbor's farms!

Crafted Goods

Crafting Cottages are a new feature that is still being rolled out by Zynga and should be available to all players above level 25 around the beginning of August 2010.  However, you don't need to have a crafting cottage to take advantage of the fuel opportunities!  All crafted goods (bakery items, spa items and winery items) can be collected from your news feed when your friends post samples or bought (with coins) from your neighbors through the Farmers Market.  You can use these crafted goods to turn in for fuel!  The higher the level of the crafted good, the more fuel it will give you when you turn it in.

Tip: You can only collect one crafted good per neighbor per day, so try to buy the highest level item they have available!

Buy with Coins

This is not always an option, but keep an eye out for special events where fuel is available for purchase with coins in the market.

Fuel is a precious commodity in FarmVille and it seems that they are always releasing new ways to find more!
