Doctor who season 4.
A review of the Doctor who season 4 DVD
Everybody seemed to have their reservations about Catherine Tate playing The Doctors new companion, and most people said it was because they thought that she would be like one of her characters from the Catherine Tate show.
I can promise you she is not, her character far outshines Martha Jones in terms of depth and comedy, the pair are fantastic together, they are both hilariously funny and yet can be emotional enough to make my dad cry! With Donna Noble there was none of the constant pining that there was with Rose and none of the smarty pants attitude of Martha and for once it was nice to have a companion that was not madly in love with the Doctor!
Episode one was fantastically written and directed (even if they did drag out the pair missing each other for a little bit too long)
The Doctor and Donna have to fight the Adipose, tiny cute creatures that are made of fat!
*THE FIRES OF POMPEII
Donna tries to get the Doctor to change history when Pompeii is under threat.
*THE PLANET OF THE OOD
Can the pair figure out what is driving the peaceful Ood to murder?
THE SONTARAN STRATAGEM.
*Martha summons The Doctor back to Earth when killer sat nav strikes! But who's controlling it?
*THE POISON SKY
The Doctor battles to save the entire planet, at what cost?
*THE DOCTORS DAUGHTER
On the planet Messaline, The Doctor meets a genetic variation of himself, will he learn to call her his daughter, and will she learn to become it?
*THE UNICORN AND THE WASP
Agatha Christie attempts to solve the unsolvable, what is taking the lives of innocent people.
*SILENCE IN THE LIBRARY
Donna and The Doctor must count the shadows to stay alive.
*FOREST OF THE DEAD
Are The Doctor and the professor in time to save Donna?
*MIDNIGHT
What copy cat nightmare is knocking on the walls of a train on the plant midnight?
*TURN LEFT
Donna is left on a different universe with no Doctor, and no memory, her only guidance is from a mysterious blonde stranger.
*THE STOLEN EARTH
The "children of time" must assemble in order to defeat the Dalek empire. But what will happen once The Doctor regenerates?
*JOURNEY'S END
Some familiar faces are back to help defeat the creator of the Daleks, but which of the children of time will die?"
*MUSIC OF THE SPHERES
The Doctor drops in on the proms.
The direction of season 4 is absolutely inspired, it's full to the brim with action, chases (lots of running!) explosions. It's atmospheric and the acting from all involved is incredible
Tennant can go from quirky and energetically insane to sinister and hurtful in the blink of an eye. Tate can switch from the no nonsense attitude to trying to instill some human compassion into the Doctor seamlessly.
The special effects on Doctor Who only evolve and get more breathtaking as time goes on. The time and effort involved must be amazing. My personal favourite effect was from THE STOLEN EARTH, The 26 planets in the sky just blew my mind!
In short, if you have still not watched this because of your reservations about Catherine Tate, give it a chance, she's nothing like any of her characters and nothing like Rose or Martha. You won't be disappointed
