Alex Jones, outspoken and edgier-than-thou journalist and provokator, has a new documentary on its way. With the Bush administration out of office and 9-11 conspiracies yesterday’s news, Jones has set his sights on a new target: President Obama. Jones’s latest documentary, The Obama Deception, will be released in mid-March in high quality definition DVDs from his website and for free online. What is up Obama’s sleeve? If this film is anything like Jones’s last work, Endgame, President Obama is setting up a New World Order aimed at devolving your children’s children’s children into retarded midget slaves.

Critizing Alex Jones and The Obama Deception this early on is kind of like accusing your friend of being cheap when you bump into him or her at a discount store. Considering it’s not even out yet, how do I even know about it? Well, it’s because I was on Jones's website, listening to his streaming radio program, and looking at the ads on his site.

One of my true guilty pleasures is watching conspiracy documentaries on the internet. I know better than to be wasting time with them, but I totally geek out over it. I don’t just sit there with my beverage, checking my email during the slower moments. I mean, I take notes.

Still, I know where to draw the line between fantasy and reality. I watch this junk, read up on it on the internet, but it’s just a sordid hobby. I don’t actually believe the stuff, and I suspect that most of the genre’s viewers don't either. What concerns me about the new Obama documentary is that I worry that many conservatives will have drawing this same line.

When arguing against evolution and global warming, the far right has a habit of trying to come up with a defense with the aid of an average person’s mind rather than trusting scientific principles. This mind set is fertile ground for mixing up conspiracy fantasies with reality, and, given the troubled economic waters we’ve treaded into, I hope that people don’t take The Obama Deception too seriously this time around.

Great article. I too am as you put it a ‘conspiracy geek.’ My favorite is the 911 conspiracy.
