The World Cup 2010 Predictions of Paul The Octopus

Jul 14th, 2010 by Workaholic_88

Paul the Octopus successfully predicted the victory of Spain over Germany.

This may sound a little bit weird but this innocent octopus, otherwise known as “Oracle of Oberhausen,” is slowly gaining fame as he predicted not just one world cup match, but six matches.

Paul the Octopus successfully predicted the victory of Spain over Germany.  Wednesday came and as the prediction previously witnessed by people in a live TV broadcast, many were thrilled to validate the prediction of Paul the Octopus.  Yes!  He was indeed correct.  It also predicted the victory of Germany over Uruguay on its match last Saturday for third-place.  No wonder this octopus now has thousands of Fans on Facebook- and still counting.

If only Paul the Octopus has the slightest idea of what going on, he would surely enjoy his popularity gained overnight.  Meanwhile, not everyone is delighted with its predictions.  Upset German fans want to fry him dead (poor octopus). On the other hand, PETA a group protecting animal rights would like to free Paul the Octopus.

Oppossingly, Oberhausen Sea Life Aquarium would like to disagree to the idea brought up by PETA.  Stefan Porwell, manager of the said Aquarium, said that death awaits Paul if thrown into the Atlantic.  Since birth the Octopus has been under the custody of Oberhausen Sea Life Aquarium and was never exposed to the deadly eyes of its natural enemies.  Porwell added that Paul should remain in the Aquarium for the octopus’ safety, adding approximately four years into his life.

Whatever the future brings, one thing’s for sure, aside from the entertainment and excitement that World Cup offers, Paul the Octopus has definitely spiced up this historical sports event being watched by millions all over the world.
