The Harbinger Was A Bird

The other day, I was sitting out on the front porch. It was nice outside and my niece was running around with all of her six-year-old energy. It was delightful.

As I sat there, a beautiful, male Cardinal landed on the mirror of the car. He sat there, then he dropped down in front of the mirror and I heard, "flappity-flap-flap." He then hopped back onto the edge of mirror. He then hopped back down in front of the mirror with the same amount of noise. This went on for a few minutes until he flew away.

I continued to feel the sun on my face and watch my playing niece.

The bird flew back onto the mirror again. He came out of nowhere! He did the same mirror to edge of mirror dance, pausing two or three times to look at me.

He turned his head and looked at me.

I knew that he had something to say.

This is not the first time that a bird has gone out of its way to get my attention. They are also the animal that I have the most difficult time trying to communicate with.

A few months ago, I went to my truck to go home from work and there was a dove sitting on the bed of my truck. Just sitting there. He caught my eye as soon as I walked out of the office. He just sat there, turning his head and looking at me.

I warned him as I approached my vehicle that I was soon to leave and he should fly away, but he persisted.

Shortly thereafter, my life changed drastically and forever.

I can only guess that the Cardinal was conveying the same message.

I was enchanted by both of these little beings with big omens.

Nature talks to me too. I listen as intently as you apparently do too, my friend.

Aaaww….you are a true friend of animals!  Personally, I thank you for taking care of those who cannot always take care of themselves.

Last week one of the visiting cats secured a young bird and dropped the bird off on my walkway. Having 2 cats, I felt I needed to help him be secure somewhere else. The only place I could do that was over the fence where no one lives now. The mother of this baby talked loudly from a tree above. I think she thanked me for saving her young from the claws of the 3 cats that were able to be viewed by her in the tree. I like your writing and your comments back to me too.Thank you for both.

I’d like to photograph with you and the birds!  For ME, the birds and I don’t commune at ALL unless God is conveying something to me.  Which is special.
