Summer Vacation Spots in Europe

This article covers some top European summer vacation spots, covering resorts of Portugal, France, Greece, and Spain.

Where to take a summer vacation in Europe? Well really, there are a few potential destinations. Some of the most notable can be found in southern Europe, of the Mediterranean. Such locations tend to boast warmer climates than elsewhere, and also have some fine coastal settings.

Spain:

Spain is a popular choice for summer vacations. Given its coastal resorts, such as Ibiza, Majorca, and the Balearic islands it cannot be considered much of a surprise. Such resorts have sandy beaches, and fresh Mediterranean waters that are often awarded the EEC blue flag for cleanliness. Majorca includes the resorts of Magalluf and Palma Nova which has three sandy beaches, plenty of water sports, boat trips, and golf courses in the area. Aside from such coastal resorts, cities such as Barcelona have great architecture, art collections, and also have beaches along the Barcelona coast. Further south, there is the Costa Del Sol which has a wide variety themes. Golf resorts are of particular interest, with a variety of golf courses in the area which have natural landscapes, and impeccable sport-specific design whether by the coast or further inland. Malaga golf courses, alongside the Malaga coastline, have particular appeal.

Portugal:  

Portugal also has some good spots for summer vacations. The city of Lisboa includes a variety of historical sites, gardens, and vantage points. In addition to this, Lisbon is also notable for its golfSouthern France has Mediterranean beaches along its coastline. The French Riviera region of France includes the likes of Monaco, Nice, Cannes and Saint Tropez. These include palm tree laden sandy beaches as at Cannes, St Raphael, Antibes and the beach of Baie de Pampelonne at Saint Tropez. With the warm climate, they are considered to be the best in France. Other sites of note include the likes of Sainte-Reparate and the Cathedral Sainte-Marie in the old town of Nice.

France:

Greece has some notable landmarks, in addition to its Mediterranean summer resorts. Resorts such as Santorini is one of Greece's top holiday destinations, with its volcanic rock beaches, and unique coastline. Halkidiki also has some fine clean beaches with crystal clear water, lush greenery and vegetation. The city of Athens also has notable historic landmarks as well as beaches and coastal towns.

So really, these are a few notable summer vacation spots in Europe. The likes of Spain, France, Greece and Portugal have some fine cities, coastal settings, beaches, and golf & sports ideal for summer vacations.
