Can Astrology Predict The Future?

Astrology forecasts in newspapers are very generalized and written in such a way that it is possible to interpret them however you wish. Can astrology give a guide to the future? I have tried several Astrology Software packages over the past year and decided that they don't do what the publishers say they will do. Let me tell you why.

Astrology forecasts in newspapers are very generalized and written in such a way that it is possible to interpret them however you wish. For example, if I read that I will have an unexpected meeting with a dark-haired man and the man who comes to read the gas meter has dark hair I could declare the forecast for the day to be correct. If the forecast says that I will lose money today and I pay my electric bill, I have technically lost money that day.  See what I mean?   Shallow isn’t it?

So, I set out to explore astrology a bit further and started by testing some computer programs.

I have tried several Astrology Software packages over the past year and decided that they don't do what the publishers say they will do. Let me tell you why.

Firstly, I tried Astrology by Focus Multimedia Ltd. This only cost 10GBP which is about $20. The software promises clear interpretation and stunning graphics. It says that you will 'stun' others by your revelations.

 I don't think so!

I put in the appropriate dates and the graphics were very good, but the interpretations are very general. I could have come up with the same information by using an ordinary Horoscope Sun Signs Book.

Secondly I tried The Instant Astrologer and Software Package by Lyn Birkbeck. This was cumbersome to use and although the graphics were good, the interpretation of results was not very comprehensive and the whole thing was very basic.

I have only tried two, but I did research various astrology software packages and I couldn't find anything that really seemed to work, so my next step was to try on-line Astrology software programs.

Once again these were very basic and the ones where you get a free consultation initially were not even worth accessing.

I have come to the conclusion that only an experienced astrologer can draw up the kind of detailed chart that relates to you personally. All the Astrology software packages seem to generalize too much and are not as detailed as they need to be to give an in depth astrology reading.

If you want an astrology reading get hold of a book which teaches you how to cast a chart yourself. It isn’t too difficult if you follow the instructions carefully. Then match your findings with an interpretation guide.

I was actually quite amazed after I drew up a complex chart for myself. There were things showing in the calculations that I knew to be true and several major life events showed up in my birth chart.  This is certainly food for thought.

Very good article, full rating from my side! However, let us also understand that charts are difficult to draw and even more difficult to predict from them. There are several different systems out there. For example, the Vedic Indian astrology considers the positions of other starts called 'Nakshatras', which makes each chart way too complicated (27 nakshatras, each with 4 phases, total of 108) and difficult to interpret. You have 144 of these Nakshatra positions, coupled with 5 planets along with Rahu and Ketu, the shadow planets. That is just the basics; go more into detail and there are several other aspects like gunas etc. So overall, a software is a lame excuse for studying astrology!
