There are many ways to drive traffic to your articles, and blogs. There is no need to pay for traffic. If you put all these methods into operation, you will get traffic and as long as your content is good, you won't fail to pick up at least some repeat traffic.

There are many different ways of driving traffic to a website. Search engines are probably the most important source of long term traffic because once you are well positioned in search engine listings; you will get traffic for years from just one marketing exercise. At least you will if your site is worth going back to.

Before you add your url to the search engines make sure that your front page is fairly rich in keywords and information. That doesn't mean that you should stuff it so full of relevant keywords that it reads badly. As a general rule use a keyword phrase and put it into a relevant place at least three times in the text on your page. Use a page, or article title which is also a relevant keyword.

Finding keywords is a simple thing to do. There are several ways to do this but a look at Google's Adsense keywords will supply you with free information. Take a look at the most common search words for your product, or subject matter and try to use these.

If you have a lot of text, or a longer article, try to add the main keywords about every forty words. This is not a hard and fast rule but it is a useful guide. You can also pepper the article with single keywords instead of long tail keyword phrases. (Long tail keywords are phrases and you will see these if you look keywords up on Adsense.)

Once you have your front page, or article ready to add to search engines there are several ways in which to start your marketing. First of all you could use one of those submission sites that promise you top ten search engine ranking for a price. Think carefully before you pay for a service like this and ask yourself how they can guarantee all their customers top ten ranking. What if they had twenty customers? Would they still guarantee them all top ten ranking?

There are also website that will allow you to use their software to submit your site to search engines, in exchange for your email address which they will use to market to you. These are useful if you don't mind getting lots of spam mail but some search engines will not accept automated submissions.

The only way to make sure that it is done thoroughly and accurately is to do it yourself. Go to the various search engine sites, click on add url and complete their submission for your site, or page. Google and Yahoo are the most important search engines add your site too. Add to others as you find them.

Adding your website to search engines is the first step towards driving more traffic to it. The same rules can be applied to articles. You can add the page url of an article to a search engine manually.
