How to Find the Status of Your Federal Tax Refund

How do you find the status of your federal tax refund? To find it isn't that hard. The status of your federal tax refund only takes a couple of steps and a few minutes to find. Here is a quick outline of what you need to do to find the status of your federal tax refund.

You need to have a copy of your completed federal tax returns so you know the refund amount and your social security number.  Once you have these  go to irs.gov and click the link that says, “Where’s my refund?”

The next step to find out the status of your federal tax refund is to have a copy of your federal tax return for this step so you will know the exact amount of your federal tax refund. You will need enter that number as well as your social security number.

Go to Where's My Refund Home Click the link that says "Where's my refund?". Just fill out this information and submit it. You will get the date that your federal tax refund was mailed out. Verify that it was sent to the correct address.

This is all you have to do to find the status of your federal tax refund.
