Many times we focus all of our Valentine's Day attention solely on our mates. It is a good idea of course to have something planned with your spouse. However, letting your children and teens know that they are important can give them a boost of confidence. The example you set on Valentines Day, is a tradition that they could pass down to their children.

Even if you normally do not start your day off with a hot breakfast, take some time and make a memorable breakfast. Serve up pancakes, french toast, oatmeal with fruit, grits, or your children's favorite breakfast. Give everyone a gift bag or Valentines Day card to keep with them during the day.

Find an age appropriate Valentines Day craft that you can do with your children after school Teen and tween girls may truly enjoying making a beaded necklace. The beads, wire, and hooks are available inexpensively at craft stores like Michael's or A C Moore. These necklaces are not frumpy, but is trendy fashion jewelry. Every time they wear that piece of jewelry it will remind them of the love at home. Younger children may enjoy coloring or painting a picture with a Valentines Day theme. Choose fun printable's that are easy to work with. Have a place set aside for displaying this artwork. Take a digital picture of the finished product. Upload this picture and send it to grandparents, aunts and uncles, or extended family.

Have a special stash of candy for your children after school. Many times they may be upset about who gave whom a Valentine at school. You may a tween is upset that a certain friend did not get them a gift. Don't forget about yourself. Get ready for the time you will spend with your spouse or significant other.
