It is known to improve memory performance. This plant belongs to the tomato family. The flowers of this plant are yellow or orange. The fruit are red. The Indian winter cherry plant grows abundantly in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. It is commonly used in Indian herbal medicine or Ayurveda.

Thr fruit, leaves, seeds, and roots of the plant are used in herbal medicine. These roots have a strong odor that resembles the smell of a horse. The roots are often boiled in milk to help decrease the odor. This herb is known for it's sedating properties. It is also used for sexual vitality. This herb is useful in treating memory loss. It is also used as a diuretic. In Japan, this herb is used as a skin ointment or for promoting reproductive fertility. Natreon is a United States based company that markets the extract of the Indian winter cherry plant. This herb is very useful in treating the symptoms of arthritis. Sometimes the essential oil of this plant is mixed with rose water or almond oil and used as a facial toner. Caution, this herb is known to stimulate the thyroid gland in some people. There are over twenty different species of this plant and the roots are known to adapt to climate changes very well. The Indian winter cherry can be found growing abundantly in the wild in India.
