When your getting a bit overdue and want to induce labor naturally, there are some great options. Pitocin is the standard hospital way, but perhaps you can take matters in your own hands and allow your body to induce naturally, on its own.

Step 1

One of the easiest and mildest ways to induce labor naturally is to steep a pot of red raspberry leaf tea. Yogi sells a great one and it tastes great too. However, the one I prefer comes from the Herb Store in Albuquerque. Perhaps you have an herb store in your own city where you can purchase red raspberry leaves for very inexpensive. Add in some honey to sweeten.

Step 2

Supposedly, you can induce labor by heading over to the mountains and letting the high altitude take its effect on your womb. Somehow the high elevation activates labor, so give it a try!

Step 3

Got a midwife? She can sweep the membranes in your cervix. For many women this actually can be painful and cause cramping and bleeding. Often it results in faster dialation so this could be an option for you.

Step 4

Here's another simple one, have sex with your partner. This is the oldest "trick" in the book to get the contractions going. Step 55 Keep on walking. Use gravity to bring that baby down!
