Where Did The Universe Come From, And Why is it There?

May 6th, 2010 by rowanman28

What happened before the big bang? Where did the universe come from? Is the universe eternal? Is there any meaning to any of it? Some people say they know, but it is all speculation. I believe that the universe is eternal, because, there is no reaction possible in a void of space/time.

Where Did the Universe Come from According to Science?

Where did the universe come from, and why is it there? Where is it going to, and if it was not created by God, then what caused the universe to come into existence? These are questions that man has asked himself since the beginning of time, or perhaps, forever (check out my article on the beginning of time). The answer is, we cannot quite prove it yet, but we have a fairly good idea of how the laws of physics work, and we can deduce a few things about the universe.

The first thing to understand, when asking the question: (Where did the universe come from?), is the big bang. We can tell that there was an explosion which the universe is expanding from. What happened before the big bang is the interesting part.

There are two theories, the big crunch theory, in which the universe is expanding faster because of a slight propulsion from the stars as they expel light energy, which as they get further away from the gravity of each other, propels them faster.

However, when the stars burn out, and the leftover material cools and turns into black holes, this propulsion is lost, and gravity takes over, pulling the black holes back towards the center of the universe, resulting in another big bang, and this circular process continues on perhaps forever. So where did the universe come from? Maybe it has always been here.

The second theory is the big freeze, where the universe, apparently coming into existence out of something close to nothing, continues expanding outward, forming black holes that just keep moving away from the gravity of each other until they eventually decay into massless particles, according to Hawking's theory of proton decay. His answer (to: Where did the universe come from?), seems to be that it began out of a singularity of infinite density in which time didn't exist, but that was still the universe, in a different form.

The problem is, that if there was nothing there before, there would be no reaction that could possibly take place that could create the universe. Even if there was a singularity of infinite density that had existed for all eternity without doing anything, and time didn't even exist, as he claimed, that would be the universe in a different form, and any reaction that could possibly take place in this singularity, would have already happened an infinite amount of times. You simply cannot make something out of nothing, no matter how hard you try.

The universe has always existed, in some form, because a singularity void of time, could make no reaction that could create a big bang. If you believe in God, then God has always existed, and must have used himself to create the universe, because, nothing can come from nothing. Where did the universe come from? I don't think it came from anywhere but here, and I assume it will turn in the same circles it always has.
